Command Squad Member: "Captain Nickoli Russokov"

So here is my Captain, he will be paid for and used in the same manner as Captain Chenkov without having to steal the good captain from another Valhallan unit. So here he is Captain Nickoli Russokov the Sr. Officer of the 794th Vahallan.

How I Painted Him: 

1. Base Coat of Chaos Black 
2. Overcoat is done in "The Fang" and trimmed in "Fenresian Grey" 
3. Hat and boots are done with "Mechanicus Standard Grey" And an overcoat of "Dawnstone" 
4. Tassels are a "Skull or Ceramite White" 
5. Metals are done with Iron Breaker 
6. Flesh is done with "Kissiley Flesh" 

Command Squad Member: "Lord Commissar Windhelm"

This is my Lord Commissar, Windhelm, Preaching from his Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer. Painted and excellently done so by my friend John Gray. All Credit Goes to Him for spending hours on this model.

My Elite Stormtroopers Squad: "Icepick"

More capable than most everyone else in the army, my special forces troops, known as" Icepick", can break apart enemy lines by chiseling away a weak-points. Halo Jumpers in ice and snow...  I wanted to give these guys more of a stealthy kinda look. So I went a little different from my valhallans.

How I did them:

1. Base coat of "chaos black" (Or equivalent modern day citadel black) 
2. Overtop of that "The Fang" the dark blue over the black gives them a darker appearance. 
3. After that I lightly dry brushed on some "Snow White" or "Ceramite White" to give them their winter camo appeal. 
4. Then I Dry-brushed again with the Iron Breaker metallic to give them a worn or scratched look. 
5. Their guns and visors as well as the Sergeant's sword and targeter in "Ironbreaker". 
6. The Sergeant's Face is in Flesh and his beard is a "Mechanicus Grey" with a a dab of "Uthurian Grey" for hi-light. 

Overall this accomplished the stealthy, yet detailed look I was hoping for. 

My First Valhallan Squad: "The Winterfell Few"

    Not many can survive the rough climate of year round snow and ice, these men are the few who can survive the fall of the harshest of the winter environments. Below is my first actual squad of valhallans:

How I painted them:

1. "Chaos (Or modern citadel equivilent) Black" Base Coat for everyone
2. Pants and Hats are done with a layer of "Mechanicus Grey" with a "Uthurian Grey" overcoat layer. 
3. The Jackets are "The Fang"  with the camo spots done with "Fenresian Grey" 
4. The details like belts and straps I decided to go with a "Ceramite White" after reading of people using their backpacks and sleeping bags to disguise themselves as piles of snow. 
5. The Side Bag us done with "Mechanicus Grey"
6. Metals are done with "Mechanicus Grey" base coats and Iron Breaker overcoats 
7. Finnally Skin Tone is "Kelsing Flesh" 

Some Serious Rough Riders: "The Dire Wolf Cavalry"

So one day I had an idea, I wanted cavalry... but considering my unit is Ice warriors and there are a serious lack of horses in the 28mm variety, I decided that I was pushing the Space Marines off their thunderwolves, calling them  dire wolves and placing actual lancers on them. PROBLEM... I had no guardsmen that would ride atop these wolves... That is when my friend John stepped in and did so in a big way. He sacrificed several of his lancer knights from the warhammer fantasy game to do the conversion. He did and excellent job with the conversion. We painted them together and they turned out great. So for the first time ever, introducing the Dire Wolf Rough Rider Unit:

Repainting My Vehicles

This is my Original Army Paint Scheme. But for my Vahallan Conversion, that all needed to change. So I Have repainted Everything in my Vehicle list.

How I did it: 

• Started by using a generic brand white base coat spray paint.  
• Painted over that with a Rustoleum Satin spray paint color called Wildflower  
• I then took a sharpie and drew out my camouflage lines. 
• I filled those in with Mechanicus Standard Citadel Paint. 
• I outlined that with Ceremite White. 
• The Metals are done by a base coat of Uthurian Gray and done over by Ironbreaker. 

The Goals for My Army

Ok so I am doing a themed Imperial Guard Army. I have done the classic standard Cadian Shock trooper army for years, but I have decided to make the leap to Valhallans as I have dreamed of doing since  4th Edition Codex. My Dream Army List is as follows:

Vahallans I want:

1. Captain Chenkov 
2. 4 Squads of Vahallans 
3. 1 Extra Squad of Vahallans to split into two Platoon Commands. 
4. 2 Techpriests For Command Squad. 

Things I have to Convert:

• About 40 Cadians I'd like to convert into Conscripts for my army.

The Rest of my Army: 

• 7 Basilisk Artillery Batteries 
• 3 Leman Russ Battle Tanks
• 1 Baneblade "Ragnarok" 
• 1 Shadowsword "Thor's Hammer" 
• 1 Thunderbolt Fighter 
• 10 Kaskrin Stormtroopers 
• 1 Warhound Titan "Odin's Fist" 

(Please note that the Titan was built by a seller on ebay who makes them from chip board.)
